Montgomery County students ride free with county’s Youth Cruiser Card

MoCo-logo

Montgomery County Ride On Buses, including Ride On ExtRa, Ride On Flex and Flash buses, are free for county residents aged 5 to 18 (or older if still enrolled in high school). The Youth Cruiser SmarTrip® card provides free rides throughout the year and replaces the need to use school IDs on the bus. The card also waives fares on most Metro buses that operate around the county.

Books have become a little more accessible in Montgomery Village. On Tuesday, August 22, Girl Scout Troop #5121 installed a Little Free Library near the notice boards outside of the main entrance at Lake Marion Community Center.

Whetstone Community Center tennis court renovation approved at July MVF Board meeting

During the Thursday July 27, Montgomery Village Foundation (MVF) Board of Directors meeting, the Board authorized Executive Vice President (EVP) Mike Conroy to enter into a contractual agreement with Pro Recreation, LLC DBA Sport Systems to renovate the tennis courts at Whetstone Community Center.

Recognizing more than 100 years of combined service from Gaithersburg Meals On Wheels volunteers

On July 11, volunteers, family members and friends gathered at Asbury Methodist Village to recognize three Gaithersburg Meals On Wheels volunteers. Senator Nancy King (also a resident of Montgomery Village) presented the citations. In the late 1980s to early 1990s, Senate King coordinated Gaithersburg Meals On Wheels and served on its Board. Here is a brief background on the three recognized volunteers.
