The Fitness Park at Watkins Mill Recreation Area, 19501 Club Lake Road, opened officially to the public on Saturday, July 8, once Montgomery Village Foundation received a final permit from Montgomery County. A Grand Opening/Ribbon Cutting event will be held on Friday, July 14, from 5 to 6 p.m. Parking is available at Stedwick Elementary School, 10631 Stedwick Road, if you’d like to join us to celebrate this new unique park amenity which is open to all.
The Montgomery Village Foundation (MVF) once again joined the Watkins Mill and Gaithersburg High Schools’ Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) to continue the MVF Scholarship Fund, now completing its 32nd year. Since the program’s inception in 1991, scholarships amounting to more than $54,500 have been awarded to Village high school seniors.
The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection has expanded its electronics recycling program, a key initiative to promote sustainability and environmental responsibility. The county is now accepting more electronics and is accepting audio and video tapes for recycling.
During the Thursday, June 22, Montgomery Village Foundation (MVF) Board of Directors meeting, the Board authorized Executive Vice President (EVP) Mike Conroy to enter into a contractual agreement with Mledtech, LLC to install solar panels on six MVF facilities, contingent on the State of Maryland authorizing proceeding with the project.
The Montgomery Village Foundation is pleased to announce the successful completion of the highly anticipated tennis court repairs, addition of pickleball courts, and renovations of the basketball court at Apple Ridge Recreation Area. During the renovation, the tennis courts underwent repairs to address existing wear and tear issues. The project involved resurfacing the courts to ensure a smooth and safe playing surface for tennis enthusiasts of all skill levels.
